ABOUT
Charlie J Doherty is a UK based analogue photographer, working internationally.

Inspired by real people and real stories, Charlie's work is rooted in documentary, with his ability to turn everyday subjects into images full of character, emotion and genuine connection with their audience.

Charlie brings the same documentary mindset into his commercial work, ensuring the outcome is a product which feels authentic and tangible - Images which feel honest to the people who view them.

With a portfolio shot entirely analogue, Charlie’s film-only approach reinforces this. It's not the "look" which makes analogue film photography so special - as a photographer, but even more so as an audience, what makes film special is knowing that each and every click of the shutter is creating a physical, tangible and one of a kind image.
In an age where consumers crave authenticity, tired of fabrication and the over-use of AI, film offers a direct, human connection between subject and viewer. Audiences crave realism: a real image, a real subject and real product, shot by a real person and furthermore, something that really can be held in their own hands, much like the film rolls the images are shot on.

Charlie's documentary and analogue approach has shaped Charlie’s career, leading him to photograph talent such as Florence Pugh and Jordan Stephens, shoot editorials published in Men's Health and Flanelle Magazine, as well as creating campaigns with global brands such as LIDL - all while continuing the documentary work that first inspired him.
